Here are five handy dandy steps in helping you be more punctual, in light of the earlier post. I need to have patience in waiting for other people, but sometimes people seem to be inherently lazy. But time is precious! So being punctual is important.

1. Find out how long it takes you to get ready.
For me, if I take my time, I take about 45 minutes. But if I'm really efficient, I can be ready in 25. That's including showering, washing my face, brushing my teeth, getting dressed, doing my hair & makeup. Sometimes I even pick out the clothes I'm gonna wear the night before. Gasp! I know. If I'm shaving my legs, gotta add another 5 minutes. =) Find out however long it takes you to get ready.. and start getting ready that much earlier than the time you're supposed to leave.

2. check the weather & traffic conditions.
Is it hailing, snowing, raining? Obviously you should consider that you're gonna be driving 5-10mph slower than you usually do. So if it usually takes 20 minutes to get there, it may take half an hour. Traffic is hard to really gauge, but just don't leave during traffic hour somewhere. Or if you do, then PLEASE take that into consideration.

3. No matter what, always leave 5 minutes earlier than you're supposed to.
That way, if you're walking to class and you run into a friend, you can spend that 5 minutes talking to that person. You get stuck at a stoplight. You're trying to look for a parking spot. etc. Something besides the weather & traffic is gonna cause you to be late. So that 5 minutes is a buffer.

4. Know the shortcuts.
That's pretty self-explanatory. If you left the house a little late, maybe the shortcut will be able to save some time.

5. Call the person to let them know that you're on your way.
And keep them in contact if you got stuck in traffic or anything. That way they won't be left hanging and they can expect you at the right time, so even if you're late it won't really seem like it b/c you warned them. =)
