I Like Stories
Telling them and hearing them.
Why do I like telling them?
helps the listener know about me. i get really excited when i tell them. maybe a bit too excited, even when they have no point i'm excited to share. and when i share something about myself w/ them... it means something. we're no longer just acquaintances. and even if it's something as surface-level like the funniest thing that happened in chem lab so far, it's cool. it's still sharing and learning.
Why do I like hearing stories?
Haha, pretty much the same reason. i learn more about that person. you may even discover that you have things in common that you may not have noticed unless you shut up and just opened your ears. i like watching the body language of the speaker. i like hearing the tones in their voice. i like watching their hands move (b/c i move my hands a lot). i like their smile. i like when the shift their eyes as they think about the next phrase. i like it when they use funny voices to imitate other people in the story or acting it out. but most importantly, i like seeing how their story unfolds a piece of that person.
stories are cool. share more of 'em. listen to more of 'em.
i got a story for you...
Eric Chen said...so..there was this one boy, his name we will not need to mention..and this one girl, her name we will not need to mention. one day this girl decided that she wanted to find out more about people she might meet at Case...she had a xanga too, and there was a Case Western Reserve University blogrin, which she happily went onto to start finding someone to make friends with. Lo and behold, she found this one boy, who also had a xanga and was in the blogring, and she pretty much stalked him....and then the story went from there....
