finals week & summer

I cannot believe finals are here. junior year is over? I seriously cannot believe this. I remember when I was in 3rd grade and saw the college kids and knew, just knew, that I would never reach that age. In middle school I knew, just knew, that I would never reach marriage and have kids and go through childbirth. In high school I knew, just knew, that I would never get through college because high school was hard enough, man. But here I am. One more year of college to go and it's going to be the hardest. But God will see me through till the end.

Here's what my finals look like though. =)

  • May 1st, 8:30-11:30am: arth102 (I think this will go just swimmingly)
  • May 6th 8:30-11:30am: criminology
  • May 7th 4:00-7:00pm: pchem exam
  • May 7th 11:59pm: last pchem paper due
And then my schedule for the summer...
  • May 8th: pack like crazy and store it @ Courtney's
  • May 10th-17th: Chapter Focus Week !!!!! JYEEEEA
  • May 18th: Drive home (chicago? Indianapolis? who knows)
  • May 19th: Fly out to Seoul, South Korea
  • June 5th: Come back to U.S. with daddy in time for Sam's graduation from high school !!! CRAZY
  • End of June: Training for Russia in LA with TeachOverseas
  • Beginning of July: Leave for Russia straight from LA
  • End of July/Beginning of August: Arrive back from Russia
  • August 17th: Go back to CASE!!!
I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Please keep me in your prayers and if you haven't received my support letter yet, let me know so I can send it to you! =)

i have so many pics for the month of april

Just a mass of pictures! Perhaps they speak the thousand words they claim.

but we were TOTALLY kick butt and I can't wait to hear the recordings.

our graduating seniors.. i'm gonna miss them SSSOO much.
lann on the far left, he's such a strong bassist and we can never replace him!
jess is kind and compassionate and sacrifices so much for cIP. good luck with teach for america!
and alex. i'm speechless. i dunno how he juggles everything he has but he's filled with so much heart and talent.

it's been a privilege singing w/ you three.

lauren & i singing "love song" by sara bareilles

me singing evanescence - bring me to life.

=====

btw. i just got my new lens. YAY! 50mm f/1.8
super light and it has pretty good color balance. i don't have enough money to buy the 1.4.. but perhaps one day. i think having this for now is good enough. that's what i used to take all those pictures of case in point above. i can't wait to shoot some more w/ it! it's so pretty. =]

i have class in about 25 minutes so i should get going.
tonight is going to be fun, too. yayyyyyyyy

silly rule

so there's this silly rule that once you reach senior status, you need to take 30credit hours worth of 300-level classes. i only figured this out... this morning. so my schedule has changed.. yet again. and it will probably change again over the summer. basically i need to take at least 5 300-level courses both semesters next year. that's... not fun. but in the fall, there seems to be some sort of theme: italian art. good thing we visited rome last summer. ^ ^
Here's the breakdown of the classes:

  • arth352: italian art of the 15th century
  • arth332: art & architecture of ancient italy
  • arth361: dutch/flemish 17th century painting
  • arth311: rome][city & image
  • arth398 (not scheduled): independent study in art history.

ohman. i can just imagine how much reading I'm going to have and how many papers I'm going to have to do. and do i still wanna major in art history? HECK YEA!

i'm SO tired. but still have work to do.
gotta go. =)

ohno's and ohyes.

sooo... classes aren't going to be as easy as it looked last week. =( This is my new schedule as of today.

      • muth103: music theory for non-music majors. yayyy =) this should be easy and fun.
      • grmn101: instead of taking french, might as well begin a new language.
      • arth271: american art & culture in 20th century. this class is on the main quad!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO i wanted to avoid taking classes on the main quad but it seems inevitable at this point.
      • arth361: dutch and flemish 17th century painting. i've taken a course with this professor before so i'm excited to study with her again. not exactly my favorite genre, but she makes it worthwhile. =)
      • concert choir. yay! maybe i can accompany again.
      • arth398: independent study. it's not listed in the schedule b/c it'll be 1-on-1 with the professor and we'll meet whenever we want.
  • total credit hours... 17.
So much for all that free time. Guess there's no such thing as slacking off. ^ ^

But on the upside, Clara and I got the most awesome suite in the whole wide world. house 3, #441. Ohyes. who cares if it's on the fourth floor. i'm just glad we got the suite. everyone has to visit. no joke. i will personally fly you out here and show you that case is so awesome, so is cleveland, and so is my suite! =) april fool's on the flying out bit. but honestly. isn't this sweeeeeeeeeeeeet?!

alright. that's all.
case in point concert tomorrow! =)

benefit concert

PRAISE GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's all I have to say about the Benefit Concert. Partly because that's all I have time to say.
But really. That's all that needs to be said.
Now I'm saying too much. I'm gone.

the month of april

is so crazy! this is a peek at what this month is like:

  • april 9th: housing lottery. clara's going to the lottery tonight. we really hope we can get this layout (http://studentaffairs.case.edu/living/facilities/villageat115/img/plan/31.jpg)
  • april 10th: case in point performing @ solstice (all female a capella group) spring concert
  • april 11th: koinonia praise night!
  • april 13th: dress rehearsal for the benefit concert
  • april 14th: benefit concert for the bellflower center for prevention of child abuse.
  • april 17th: case in point concert. OHYEEEEEEEEEEA
  • april 20th: case concert choir performing at SEVERANCE !!!!
    • We're only singing a few songs and the orchestra and band will also be performing.
    • I'm playing the piano @ severance b/c I'm accompanying for the choir. ISN'T THAT CRAZY?! I've always dreamed of playing in a giant concert hall (of course with an orchestra playing an awesome concerto w/ this fabulous dress.. but this is close enough ^ ^) and now I get to!
  • april 26th: feminar and later on the case concert choir's actual spring concert (full)
  • april 28th: case in point performing for speakeasy and also the last day of classes!!!
sssoooo is this insane or what.
the awesome thing is i can't wait for the summer. as much as i hate the summertime, i can't believe i'm going on missions and going to korea!

now back to work. =)

where have i been?!

song playing: August's Rhapsody from the August Rush soundtrack

no i haven't fallen off the face of the earth or drowned in my courses and workload.
There's just been so much on my mind so I haven't had much time to stop and write. But the sad part is, I can't even remember half of what I've been doing because things have been happening at warp speed.

All I know is what my schedule will look like next semester:

HAHAHAHA.. what an awesome schedule. The FRCH is either going to be french101, 102, or 201 or 202 depending on where I get placed into based on the proficiency exam. The Art history major doesn't require you to learn a foreign language but masters and pHD programs require languages so might as well get a head start. And art history major actually recommend German, too. Sooo that's why I'm taking german101. And obviously I will be doing choir again. =)

And what's up with all that space? Because the credit hours obviously don't add up. So in all that free space.. I'll be doing independent study with an art history professor. Our curriculum is basically up to me and the prof to decide. We'll probably do museum visits since the Cleveland Museum of Art is 15min. walk from me. And do indepth research because the Cleveland Museum of Art Library is one of the best in the world! Most of the days on TUES and THURS I'll be @ the library, reading, researching or at the main library doing my listening assignments for the language classes. But I'm just glad about that schedule for next year!

=====

Work @ the admissions office is CRAZY!
So many jrs and even sophs visiting. And obviously all the seniors who've been admitted are making their way and they look so excited. I wonder if that's what I looked like, too. =)
