Swing dancing for the first time in Chicago.

Swing dancing Friday night.
AMAZING.
minus the sweating & the humidity and the long drive.
B U T -- so worth it.
Thanks everyone for coming ! And next year, if I'm here in Chicago, then we'll go every week. x) But maybe next time we'll take the train instead and save some gas $$ ^ ^

It sucks that I was stupid and didn't take pics WHILE swing dancing. I guess I was too preoccupied with the dancing that I totally forgot to take pictures. So Charles & Christine are missing from the few pics I do have.. but they were there and had the time of their lives, too. =)

Stopped @ Liquid Fusion for some bubble tea, of course. x)

then off to good ol' chicago !

My nonexistent city-driving skills brought us into the beautiful city of chicago. =D
None of us wanted to leave the luxurious AC. Haha, but we had to go !
Before the dancing started, we just bummed around the area waiting for Charles & Christine. And during the time I took some pictures of some cute flowers.

The entire night was just pure fun. Got to relearn a lot of the things I have learned in the past year. And we even ran in to Bernie after the night was over ! Man, only if we got to see each other in the beginning of the night, I bet the guys would've learned a lot more. xP Man, I wish we went earlier in the summer. But we shall. Oh, we shall. ^ ^

=====================================

Look what I learned in Photoshop. Please, keep in mind, I am completely illiterate when it comes to photoshop. I only use it so I can make my pictures look like they were drawn. Haha. I only know how to use the Filter Gallery. I dunno how to draw on Photoshop. So here is my creation................ [drumrollll ~]

Pretty neat, huh? x)
I found all these tutorials... so hopefully I will become a master @ photoshop in no time. Muhahhaha !

I found this tutorial [here]. I followed most of the instructions, but towards the end, I did my own thing. ^ ^ So that's why it didn't turn out exactly like it's supposed to. But how else will I learn if I don't experiment?

c h i c a g o o o o ~

I took this picture on Monday when I went to Chicago w/ Sam so we could get our Int'l Student ID Card. Well, of course the photo's photoshopped. It's actually photoshopped with rough pastel and then I stuck the text in there. I took lots of other pictures of Chicago and other flowers, too. And I realized how beautiful cities really are. I mean, how long must it have taken to build the Union Station, the Sears Tower, Navy Pier, all the super expensive apartments--the great minds that produced these buildings, the strong hands that built the foundations, all the $$ that was poured into it.. there's so much history to it. And that's what makes it beautiful. When you step back.. (actually a lot of steps) or even from a plane, you see the skyline.. you see what the final product. And you marvel at what the future of it could look like. I bet 200 years ago, the people wouldn't have even thought this was possible. They would've thought it's 끔찍해..

This weekend I'm gonna spend some more time in the city, swing dancing and such. Should be a lots of fun!~

I only wish I lived in the city........

Fun in the Sun

Song for the day : Anberlin - Paperthin Hymn // [download here] // [lyrics here]

=================================

The beach is so relaxing. It wasn't too hot and not humid. But not hot enough to wanna cool off in the water. It would be nice to live right next to a beach. But I dunno if I'd wanna live in the sun by the water 24/7. So maybe I'll buy two homes. HAHAHA. j/k.

What a cool picture.

================================

Yesterday's message was like a wake-up call & a reality check. No matter how much I'm pressured from family other academic influence that success is only found in how much $$ you make and the letters after your name, how many different countries you've been to, how many friends you have.. yesterday I thought about other successes. How many people have I brought to Christ? How many people have I even uttered the name Jesus Christ with? How many times have I read through the Bible..and understood it all? How much did I really pray for the missionaries abroad? How much time did I spend with the close friends that I still have? Have I stretched out a helping hand to those in need? When my time comes.. will I regret not having done these things? Who wants to live life only to live in regret?

I can't say that I'll be changed forevermore overnight. But I have given these things some serious thought and I do want to change. It's not in our nature to always be compassionate and unselfish. But that's the beauty of grace. God still uses us to mold us. Us nobodies who aren't capable of much else, unless we have experienced His grace & mercy.

..Somehow, I'll never understand.

Manooben w/ the Family

Song for today : Chopin - Prelude in e Minor, Op. 28, No. 4 // [download here]

For some reason.. I really like the key e minor. My favorite nocturne of Chopin's is also in e minor. Does this mean that I have some major psychological problems because I like a minor key? Haha. I'm sure it doesn't... right? If you're a fan of Chopin, I hope you get a chance to listen to his first piano concerto. It's pretty famous. So I'd be disappointed if you haven't listened to it. Good "studying" music. ~,^

===================================

Had a nice lunch w/ the family (minus daddy). I've been to this restaurant about 5 times this summer. Haha. And yes, I do plan on going again. Not only is it owned by a friend's family, but the price is right for some freakin' awesome food. If you like sushi but don't wanna spend over $100 on the food, then go to Manooben ! At the corner of Lake Ave. & Milwaukee. x] You better go. They're good people and the food will not disappoint. Anyways. Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure.

Thinking... Maybe I want more sushi ! ^ ^

me & my mom =)

Sam copying me. l0ser !!

Having a meal with the family outside the home's just as nice as having a meal inside the home. Hope you get to spend time with your family today.

And if you like puzzles (raise your hand!!), here's one I made just for you. Go complete it, [here]! If you can name the flower (b/c I dunno what the name is) you get an extra point. =)

"It happens once in a while"

Song of the Moment : 백지영 - 미소 // [download here] // [lyrics here]

==============================

I heard that phrase used by a couple people today; I even heard myself say that to myself. When were those scenarios? Well, here they are.. in no particular order, b/c I didn't write them down as soon as they happened, along with the exact time, and how long the moment elapsed.

1. My cell phone somehow turned off in the middle of the night (but it was in the charger!) and my alarm didn't go off. Instead of the usual class @ 10am, the exam was to be @ 8am.. that meant that I was to wake up @ 4:45am, use an hour to get ready, then be out of the house by 5:50am to get on the 6:22 train. But since my alarm didn't go off, thank goodness my mom woke up early @ 545am and asked me if I was waking up late so I didn't have to take a shower. I jolted out of my bed, washed my face, brushed my teeth, and put random clothes on, and grabbed my brother's hat since I had very messy hair. I haven't worn a hat in a while. Actually I don't really wear hats. So.. I caught myself saying, "Eh, it happens once in a while." I'll wake up late from time to time, even though it seems pretty freaky that my cell just turned off in the middle of the night, and I'll hafta wear a hat when I have a bad hair day.............. O_____O;;

check out the bag under my eyes... man, that's bad.

I realized.. that I don't like taking normal pictures.. I can't smile right.

2. My physics TA wrote me messages on my homework.. such as..
--"You have very nice handwriting. Your heart must be beautiful."
--"You have the highest homework grade in the class. Your average is 7.7 out of 8. If you're doing well on the homework you must be doing well on the exams. Good luck!" (This was in an email)
--"You're a very smart student. Are you majoring
in physics? It was a pleasure having you in this class. Have a good day."
UHHHHH.. yea. Weird. When I got on campus, the exam room wasn't open, so our class was waiting outside (Thank goodness it was blazing hot). I was standing w/ my lab partners when the TA walked by our room looking for our professor and wondering why we were all standing around. My lab partners started to poke fun about how the TA was hitting on me and how I should say hi or whatever. Sad part is.. he looks like he's 35. Yep. Sorry, not interested. So where does the phrase come in? One of my lab partners said it referring to the fact that every once in a while a creepy person will try and hit on you. ..hahahha.

3. After the exam, I walked to the bus stop and I caught a butterfly landing on a dandelion ! I just had to take a picture !!

I took a couple because some came out a little blurry. I was also listening to my music so I was careful to glance up every now and then so I wouldn't miss the bus. Finally, after taking several shots, I stood up, satisfied, and saw the bus getting ready to leave ! So I hopped over to the bus and waved at the bus driver to let me on. I stepped in and said shyly, "Sorry." and thought, "This definitely happens once in a while".

4. I was sitting on the second floor of the Metra train. I tried to close my eyes and sleep just a little bit before getting to my stop. But I was rudely awakened after 10 minutes by clanking. I looked to see and it was the conductor clanking his hole puncher on the metal bars hoping to wake up the person on the other side of the second floor for his ticket. But the guy wouldn't wake up. So the conductor tapped his sandals. Finally the guy woke up and didn't say a single word and started to slowly look in his pockets, his bag, his pockets again, and then looked at the conductor, closed his eyes, and went back to sleep. This whole process took a good 2 minutes. I could sense the conductor growing impatient. Maybe this guy didn't understand english. Maybe he didn't understand that he needed to pay for his ticket in order to get a ride. Maybe he was just trying to pick a bad fight. Maybe he just left home and wanted an hour of a moment's peace. Who knows? But anyway, the conductor left in a pretty pissy mood and came back by the next stop w/ another conductor. Conductor #1 stayed at the first floor and watched him from there, and conductor #2 stepped up to the second floor and tried to speak calmly about how he either needed to pay for a ticket or he was going to call the cops. The guy still wouldn't do anything about it. He just kept on glaring at the conductors with this face like he was gonna pull out a gun and shoot 'em down. Finally, by the next stop, the conductors had called the cops and a police officer came in and approached the guy and politely asked if he could pay for a ticket. If not, then he would have to be escorted out of the train. The police officer realized that he was going to have to get ahold of this guy because he was not going to leave on his own will. So the police officer grabbed the guy's arm, and he started punching & slapping the officer ! The officer let go, asked again, and grabbed him again. Again, more punching & slapping ! I couldn't believe my eyes !!! I'd be so scared that I'd surrender and get off the darn train. But this guy wasn't going to let go. The police officer tried once more, but this time he went for the guy's bag. Maybe that'll grab his attention and get him to his feet. And, apparently, that worked. The guy snatched the bag from the police officer's hands, shot that deadly glare again and rose to his feet and slowly sulked off the train. I kept on shaking my head, b/c I couldn't believe what just happened. I don't think I've ever witnessed something like this. I kept on thinking, what if this guy really was armed, and if the conductors & police officer had touched him, would he have hurt them? Anyway, the phrase comes in when one of the conductors came in and earnestly announced that they were really sorry for the inconveniences and incidents like these do happen once in a while.

Man. What a day. Started @ 5:45am... and now it's only noon but I feel like I've been up all day. Crazy, huh? Maybe I'm getting old.

Haha. Kidding ! ~,^

Read the article [here] on N. Korea & Iran
Okay.. hit the pause button. WHAT IS GOING ON............?
Did I seriously miss out on THAT much news?
There are "commercial ties" between N. Korea and Iran?! Concerning missiles?!
All I can do is pray about the current war going on in the Middle East and for N. Korea, but I can't help but wonder what will happen 20 years down the road.
It seems like WWIII is likely to happen, doesn't it? Or maybe I'm just worrying too much.

I'm reading articles on www.cnn.com on a pretty regular basis now. But I'm so disturbed. There are U.S. families stuck in Lebanon b/c of the war, there's a porn star running for governor in Nevada, the "technology" section gets me worried about being online all the time and the future of the Internet.... seems like there's nothing that won't cause me to worry. But this is the way it's always been right? The news has always been around. Bad things like this always happens. The only difference is the subjects. Internet wasn't around 40 years ago so they didn't worry about it. But I'm sure they had their own problems. So what can I do? Just pray..

Ga Ga for Google

Song for today : Chelsia Chen - One Summer Night (F. Drunken Tiger & T) // download [here]

I don't think this song is out in the public or on an album or anything. I found it at a forum that I'm in. I like it though. Good beats. It's pretty cool listening to T rapping, too. =) So if you're a fan of Drunken Tiger or T.. download it. It's for you, anyway.

======================

Okay, I dunno how google started evolving. But it is incredible ! I didn't realize the power of google until I joined Gmail.. I have the Google Desktop.. then got Picasa.. and now I'm here on blogger.. and Ken introduced me to Google Reader, too. You gotta have gmail in order to use it. But it's not that hard to join gmail. I don't think you need invites anymore in order to create an account. I don't use Gmail Chat, though. I think that's just.. a hassle. I already have AIM & MSN.. I don't need ANOTHER chatting outlet.

And get a load of this.. the artist of all the google logos.. [drumrollllllll~] is Dennis Hwang. Read the article [
here]. Hehe, I hope he's korean. haha. Judging by his last name and his face, it looks like it. =) I always liked the special logos around the holidays and on random days, too. Smart & creative guy. Man, I bet he never knew how big google would get and what his job would blossom into. Go to that link in the article to see some great examples of his artwork. There are hundreds more, I bet.

I dunno if Google taking over the world is a good thing. But whoever is the genius behind this masterpiece.. I wanna meet him. =) Awkwardly shake his hand.. and not be able to utter a single word b/c I'll be dumbfounded beyond belief.

Airports are Funnn

Song of the Moment : Tim - Morning Star [download here]

========================

Dropped 아빠 off @ the O'Hare Int'L Airport. He's leaving for korea, but he'll be back in 3wks so we can go on the Europe trip together.

Light vs. Darkness

아빠 & me. =)

Funny picture w/ my brother. x) Aren't we funny? hahahhaha ~

So why are airports fun? Dunno. They just are. It sucks parking on the other side of the airport and walking 20 minutes just to watch your dad check-in and whatever. But it's fun watching people. Don't think that's freaky b/c I know you all do it. xP It's fun imagining where the people are going. United Airlines is pretty big in Chicago and the domestic and int'l flights are done in the same place, so you dunno who's going domestic and who's going int'l. So it's fun to guess depending on the luggage and how many people are going. And @ airports you can take pictures and not feel dumb. You go anywhere else and take pictures, you'll probably feel retarded b/c you're new in the place--you're a tourist. Or you go to the mall and wanna take pictures w/ the random clothes on.. and you get in trouble. Hahah. anyway. =)

Just in case you're wondering why I started blogspot.com.. I dunno. It seems cleaner, I like the archiving, I like how I don't have to upload pictures onto a photo server and I can just transfer from picasa. =) Go google. I don't like how I can't have music playing in the background... o well. =)
