I meet so many unique people who deserve a chance at this awesome school! ^ ^
today.. I met a girl who wants to go into aerospace engineering. She's probably one of the first that I've met. Another girl who plays percussion and I don't see that all the time, either. Met a guy who really wants to do audio engineering and plays BOWLING in an actual league ! He bowled a 299 at one point. So close to a 300! I told him that I'm just happy to break 100. I met a girl who wants to transfer in and wants to be a journalism major. She likes writing up reviews about the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cavs & Indians, just everything. And she learns something new with each interview and article. That's sssoooo cool.

And all of these people I met in the past 2 hours that I've been here at work. I don't normally work on Friday mornings but I'm subbing for someone.

Did you also know that Chelsea Clinton is coming to our campus? Not just the Cleveland area but an actual building on our campus? I think that's just so cool. And Obama and Hillary Clinton had a debate at Cleveland State University this past Tues. It really mobilizes the students on campus to register to vote and really care about what's going on. Since Ohio is going to be a key state later on they're doing all that they can.

In other news, I am INCREDIBLY excited for grad school in art history. MAN. I talked to a prof. who I'm going to be working closely with next year and OHMANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. She encouraged me SO much and I'm so glad and thankful that her area of interest is very close to what I want to be working with. For some reason, I'm very intimidated by a lot of the male professors. But Dr. H is the best. No matter how much I suck at writing and whatever, I feel like I can be real with her.

The museum also opens up partially next fall so AHH and they're opening up the european paintings and that's exactly what I want to study so definitely hyped up for that.

AHHH I'll write more. Even though it's snowing crazy and it's a drag walking through it, just seeing God open so many doors for me and encouraging me daily.. I can't help but smile and give God praise.

I don't ever remember ever getting that much food. It was incredible. AND there were leftovers. How great is that. I could tell that the exec really worked hard to put on a great show. There were SOOOO many freshmen so the night was 100% freshmen performers. Haha. I enjoyed the fashion show. And DEFINITELY the dances. hahahahaaaaaaaaaa !

a beautiful mind.

sometimes i do crazy things and watch a movie around 10pm even though I agreed to go to early morning prayer the next day (meaning I have to wake up at 5am). But I had this sudden urge to watch it. And I learned some very profound things.. about marriage, faithfulness, and trust. I'm not going to go into detail b/c i really must be going to bed. But whether or not the story was dramatized, the fact that his wife stayed with him the entire time, is what makes this movie beautiful.

on a different subject, today's message @ LG was so good. So applicable and so true! racial reconciliation. and not just racially, but socially, and any other --ally you can think of. Just the other day I was making fun of someone and laughing along because of the way he acts when he gets nervous. WOW. is that how Christians evangelize to their friends? certainly not. why do i think i'm superior to others? it's not just what I say and do, but even what I think.

"...whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things"

I feel like I've definitely matured from where I was in high school, but the growing just doesn't stop. And you'd think that I'd get sick of never attaining perfection (given my propensity to strive for it). But nuh-uh. I'm glad that I am improving and working on mistakes and realizing that only by the grace of God can I be transformed and have a renewed heart and mind and soul. It's AMAZING what God does for me. How he changes me. And how he rescues me.

Koinonia Valentine's Day Dinner

back on track.

I have fully recuperated !
And I love sleeping early and waking up on time as weird as that sounds !

Here are some random things that have happened this week....
1. lots of snowing.
it was weird. on tues, it was snowing, then turned into ice, then it started raining ! now we have an abundance of snow--so much in fact that it's probably going to last us right through march until the next blizzard hits around april. pics to come soon from the wade lagoon.
2. bring me to life.

i love this song? well, i wrote an arrangement for case in point, my a capella group, and we rehearsed it for a little bit yesterday. and DANG we were fierce.
3. fierce.
i have no used that word twice in a row. because of
project runway. one of the designers, Christian, is hilarious. i hope he wins. besides the point. but he uses the word ALL the time. it gets annoying but only when i say it all the time. project runway has become a regular thing in my schedule. it's even written in there ! but it's so fierce that i have to watch it. =)

i really like this picture from google today. it's child-like in a way but also respectable and sentimental. kind of makes you go "aww". notice how she's not holding roses or a big diamond necklace or anything? just enjoy the simple things in life. =) maybe i'm reading too much into this but i like how they're not facing us.. like they're going away together .. forever. and it looks like they're walking on water. which is kinda sketchy, but in a dreamy kind of way, it's cool. i dunno. this is probably one of my favorite google pictures so far. yay.

i haven't really experienced exhaustion until this week.
after the retreat, i became extremely physically, mentally, and spiritually exhausted. i didn't really feel it until thurs. and fri. i kept on sleeping late and waking up late because i needed more sleep. i missed my classes on fri. and turned in my assignment late. i missed the evangelism training today which was SSSOO important !

summer and winter retreats allow time for recuperation because we're always on break. but this koinonia retreat, i put so much into it that i forgot to take care of my mind, body, and soul.

this is not like me. i'm always up and even tho i'm tired, i'll abandon my needs and do what's important. but i forget to rely on JESUS for my strength. before i sleep, i need to read His word and know that I am completely dependent on Him.

so for lent.. this is what i'm doing. i'm going to give up this game that i'm ALWAYS playing. i'm not gonna tell you where it is b/c if i tell you then you might be tempted to go there, too. =) but i'm going to stop playing that game b/c that easily takes up hours as i sit in front of my computer. and i'm also going to start reading the Word before I sleep, not just during the day and in the morning.

i think i'm almost done recuperating from the retreat.. but now i know why we must be careful when entering a retreat and also leaving a retreat.

movies movies movies !

i do realize that some of these movies aren't coming out until the summertime but at least when i come back from my crazy summer, i'll have a lot of great movies to catch up on.

1. la vie en rose: june 8, 2008
i LOVVVVVVVE the song and i absolutely adore edith piaf. marion cotillard is perfect for this role and i can't wait to see how it all plays out.

2. spiderwick chronicles: february 14, 2008
freddie highmore really moves me. even august rush where the story was so cheesy and the actors were definitely not playing the instruments.. highmore really knows how to move the audience. it's gonna be weird when he grows up. definitely around puberty.

3. get smart: june 20, 2008
the cast looks just ridiculous as in funny ridiculous. steve carell, anne hathaway, dwayne (the ROCK) johnson.. and the director also did "50 first dates". so this isn't one of those serious movies that i'd actually pay to watch.. but maybe i'll wait until the end of the summer to watch it @ the $1 theatre. haha. yeeea.

4. indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull: may 22, 2008
what?! harrison ford is back?! i thought he was like 80yrs old. but i'm a big fan of indiana jones so i can't help it. i need to watch this. maybe we'll have an indiana jones marathon.

5. the chronicles of narnia: prince caspian: may 16, 2008
OHYES ! very very excited. i'm definitely going to have to read the book again b/c i don't really remember this one too well. i know it's not my favorite. are they doing the whole series? if so, i can't wait for the last battle !

6. the dark knight: july 18, 2008
since heath ledger passed away.. i reeeally need to watch this now. i enjoyed batman begins (not tooooo much) but enough for me to be excited for this one. =)

it's about time...

that I update about the retreat. =) that's my lovely small group. young, justeen, joyce (our leader!), me, and lisa. what cuties.

the theme was 20/20: what's your vision? based off of Acts 20:24--However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace. How do you see your own life? How do you see your purpose? How do you see the world? How do you see God working in your life? Those were some of the questions we wanted to answer this weekend. And I think everyone left with strong convictions.

Pastor Thomas from Calvary was our speaker and ohmygoodness... the Spirit
was SSSOOO with him and God worked so powerfully !!! I've never seen such convictions and testimonies come out of Koinonia. We really experienced revival.

Many people who weren't even in Koinonia came and made a great impact and left inspired and rejuvenated.

When it comes to retreats.. I'm so used to being a counselor now that I become completely selfless and only care about others getting blessed. So even though it was a great retreat for me and I was running around a lot... I'm just blessed seeing others get blessed. The best time was Sunday morning.. the last sermon.. and EVERYONE WAS AWAKE !!!!!!!! Even one person was standing in the back because he didn't want to fall asleep ! How awesome is that? I expected everyone to fall asleep b/c we didn't get enough sleep sat. night. But we were all just hanging on PT's every word b/c we were THAT HUNGRY for God's word to move us !!! Let's always be like that even when we open the Bible in our rooms.. at power groups.. at large groups.. at prayer meetings.. ALL the time !

Even though the retreat center was freezing.. the fire of God was ablaze and kept our souls warm !

So many freshmen came, too ! Even freshmen that have never been to Koinonia ! AHHHHHH Praise God !!!

And even today I'm hearing stories about how people are picking up their old Christian books that have been collecting dust. People are curious about Bible Studies and wanting to listen to Christian music.. asking more questions.. and really pursuing after God. I'm absolutely encouraged ! Especially from the brothers in Koinonia. I'm so thankful.

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. - Romans 12:11

it's that time of year for the Koinonia retreat !!!
Please pray for hearts to be renewed and RADICALLY changed !
we NEEEED prayers b/c nothing happens without prayer.
it doesn't matter how simple the prayers are. it can be as simple as, "God, help ____ to pray more." we really need to rely on God to powerfully work this weekend.

LOTS of people are coming ! A little over 40 people and even those who have never attended Koinonia are coming ! how exciiiiiiting ! many of you know pastor thomas (my old youth pastor) and he will be the speaker for this retreat. please pray for his safe travel right now because it's snowing like CRAZY in chicago !
