here's one thought from responders in the artsbeat blog of the nytimes.

i'll give my 2 cents sometime this weekend after i've thought about it for a bit =)

nightmares & sudden impulses

on saturday and sunday night i had the same nightmare twice.

i was wearing a white nightgown (which i don't usually wear, fyi) and i'm in the middle of a dark hallway that resembles a high school. i notice in front of me one set of bloody footprints. i start to follow the footprints--they led me up and down flights of stairs, in and out of classrooms, to the ends of hallways only to bring me back to other end. suddenly, i hear a noise so i turn around. but nothing's there. i look down... and notice that i am the one with the bloody footprints.

both nights i woke up right when i came to that realization. i dunno what it means. i'm trying not to think about it too much. just thought i'd share to see if you have any thoughts.

===================

two days ago was also a day full of sudden impulses/goals.
a friend and i went to the mall for an impromptu dinner and just hanging out.
through conversations and visiting random stores, i had myriad sudden impulses:
  • i really wanna go to dubai, UAE, israel, cote d'ivoire, tahiti, (+30 other countries)
  • i wanna finish a 1500 piece jigsaw puzzle before the summer is over!
  • i must go swing dancing in the hot humid weather of chicago
  • i wanna be on the show "what not to wear" but w.o the cameras and the public humiliation (HAHAHA). i even went so far as to nominating myself but then realized that i'm really not as eccentric and crazy like some of the people that appear on the show. =(
  • i wanna drive 90+ mph down I-94 (we'll see if my little pt cruiser can handle it)
  • if i ever own a huge house, i want to have one room just for snow globes (once i start my collection, that is). i think having snow globes scattered throughout the house could get obnoxious. but if they were all contained in one room, the obnoxiousness is also self-contained. =)
  • i wanna learn dance moves via the wonders of youtube (i actually did start doing this on monday.. hehe)
i don't remember what else i felt. but these are just some examples.

===================

tomorrow i will be going to the art institute of chicago (FINALLYYYYYY) with friends from CWRU! yeayuh. =) i'm very very excited to see the new modern wing. we're also going in the evening so it will be ... FREE.

yes.

come as you are, desperately

today's reading gave me a lot of encouragement (Luke 7:36-40):

"36 One of the Pharisees asked [Jesus] to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house and took his place at the table. 37 And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in Pharisee's house, brought an alabster flask of ointment, 38 and standing behind him at his feet, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment. 39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, 'If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.' 40 And Jesus answering said tohim, 'Simon, I havesomething to say to you.' And he answered, 'Say it Teacher.' "
This is a story that I am well aware of... until I read it once more today. It is true that every time you read the precious Word of God you learn something new! He never stops teaching, molding, rebuking, and correcting you.

The little detail is in v37. This woman, who is a sinner, enters the Pharisee's house KNOWING FULLY what the consequences are. She's already an outcast. The Pharisee's look down at her because of her status. But knowing (v37 says that she LEARNED) that Jesus is inside that house, she desperately approaches him (with tears, with her precious ointment, with humility) without fearing the Pharisees. Realizing this detail, I was encouraged to fall in front of Jesus again... desperately... with my prayers, fears, needs, struggles, etc.

AH I love the refreshing feeling I get after reading the Word.

Yay!
